2016 Audi S3 – Oil Cooler Failure, Cooling System Contamination & do88 Silicone Hose Upgrade
Oil cooler failure and cooling system contamination
This 2016 Audi S3 (8V) recently visited Kreskas Automotive in Croydon South with a serious cooling system issue caused by an internal failure of the oil filter housing heat exchanger (engine oil cooler). This failure allowed pressurised engine oil to enter the cooling system, contaminating the coolant and contributing to water pump failure and deterioration of the vehicle's coolant hoses and seals. Oil contamination can be particularly damaging, as it can cause rubber components to soften, swell and deteriorate while leaving oily deposits throughout the cooling system, potentially reducing cooling efficiency and increasing the risk of overheating.
Cooling system repair and do88 hose upgrades
To address the issue comprehensively, we replaced the failed components, damaged gaskets and compromised cooling system parts, upgrading the coolant hoses with do88 reinforced silicone hose kits, designed to offer excellent heat resistance, durability and long-term reliability. We also carried out a thorough cooling system flush using LIQUI MOLY Radiator Cleaner, specifically formulated to help remove oil residue, sludge and deposits from cooling systems. This repair highlights why coolant contamination should never be overlooked, as simply replacing the failed oil cooler without addressing the remaining contamination can lead to recurring issues and further component damage. At Kreskas Automotive, we specialise in Audi S3 servicing, oil cooler repairs, cooling system diagnostics and performance vehicle maintenance, providing comprehensive repairs and preventative maintenance for European vehicles throughout Croydon, Ringwood, Bayswater, Kilsyth, Mooroolbark and Melbourne's eastern suburbs.
