2016 Porsche Cayenne Turbo – Specialist Servicing, Suspension Air Leak & Knocking Noise Diagnosis
This powerful 2016 Porsche Cayenne Turbo (958) recently visited Kreskas Automotive in Croydon South for routine servicing and investigation of several mechanical concerns. Powered by Porsche's impressive 4.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the Cayenne Turbo combines exceptional performance with sophisticated luxury and advanced suspension technology. Alongside its scheduled maintenance, the owner requested an investigation into an unusual knocking noise and an issue affecting the vehicle's pneumatic air suspension system. Our inspection identified a leaking air spring, highlighting the importance of comprehensive diagnostics when maintaining complex European luxury SUVs.

The Cayenne Turbo's adaptive air suspension system uses pressurised air springs, an air compressor, electronic sensors and control modules to regulate vehicle ride height and comfort. When an air spring develops a leak, the system may struggle to maintain the correct ride height, potentially causing uneven suspension levels, compressor overworking and reduced driving comfort. Continued operation with an unresolved air leak can place additional strain on other suspension components, increasing the potential for further repairs. Unusual knocking noises can also originate from several areas, including suspension joints, bushes, steering components or drivetrain assemblies, making careful inspection essential before recommending replacement parts. Interestingly, the Cayenne also features an unconventional battery location beneath the left front seat, rather than within the engine bay. On Australian right-hand-drive models, this is the front passenger seat, and accessing the battery requires additional care around the seat assembly and interior components.
